The Flowlie Times #22
VC terminology, confirmatory vs. evaluative diligence, "Who Owns Generative AI Platform?", NVIDIA live video upgrades, and more!
Hi Friends,
This is Mike from Flowlie. This bi-weekly newsletter includes the top articles about VC & PE, ranging from operations, tech, and tax advice to trends, notable guides, and news on recent capital raises. We hope you enjoy it and find some value!
3 articles we learned from:
1️⃣ Great article from “Law of VC” explaining venture fund terminology: Advisory Committee (LPAC), Capital Commitments, Carry, Clawbacks, etc.
2️⃣ Wonderful piece on "confirmatory diligence" vs. "evaluative diligence", and when to use each.
3️⃣ “Who Owns the Generative AI Platform?” by a16z. It’s a thorough analysis of where the value in the market can be created (infrastructure providers vs. applications), understanding which parts of the stack are differentiated and defensible, and much more.
3 venture announcements that caught our eye:
1️⃣ Announcements about live video enhancements by NVIDIA. Eye contact, better background blur, and more.
2️⃣ Deel - 'global HR platform - reaches $295M in ARR. “That’s up 417.5% from $57 million in ARR achieved at the end of 2021”. Very impressive!
3️⃣ “Scenario lands $6M for its AI platform that generates game art assets”. Their product allows game developers to create new game assets easier than ever before. “[Scenario] claims that 5,000 people have signed up for the platform and that 20,000 more are on a waitlist.”
New Features!
1️⃣ Startups and investors can now preview their own profile before sending their FlowLink to someone else.
2️⃣ A large number of changes were done to startup profiles: from more sophisticated revenue types to more granular user and customer metrics, painting the right story of your startup has never been easier.
As always, feel free to email us with any questions,
