Today's reads
Don’t feel like reading today? Here is a photo-driven article on how outdated IRS systems are. I was laughing and almost crying at the same time while reading it.
Prefer charts? Here is a chart-driven (and data-driven) article on the relationship between product traction & pre-seed valuation.
Feel like reading a lot? Here is a deep dive into creating better economics (and other) models by extending them beyond the rational-actor model.
News from venture
First, fundraising news that belongs in r/GoodNews, Forage raises $22M in Series A funding. Their goal - helping grocers to accept online food stamps payments. Much preferred innovation compared to BNPL if you ask us.
Jake Paul (professional social media start turned professional boxer) raised $50M for his new sports-betting business. The focus will be on media (“[serving] a young sports audience through new social shows and promotions”) and micro-betting.
Finally, in the news you almost definitely heard, Adam Neumann (WeWork founder) raises a $350M check from a16z (their biggest check ever). Almost forgot: the company is called Flow, and “[it] is set to operate over 3,000 apartment units … as part of its vision to bring community-oriented features to the rental market”. Hoping they misspelled Flowlie but when checking our bank account we realized that wasn’t the case.
Flowlie feature highlight
Today’s highlight is FlowLink. As an investor, you can share your FlowLink with the public or with selected founders. Founders will be able to submit the information about their rounds directly to your Triage. FlowLink works perfectly as a deal intake form that you can even add to your website.
As always, feel free to email us with any questions. We are glad to chat!
Thank you,
Mike from Flowlie
