The Flowlie Times #24
Hi Friends,
This is Mike from Flowlie. This bi-weekly newsletter talks about VC & PE: from operations, tech, and tax matters to trends, notable guides, and news on recent capital raises. We hope you enjoy it and find some value!
3 awesome articles we learned from:
1️⃣ Click here for the best explanation of the SVB collapse we found (covers risk management, decisions made, etc). And here is a great post walking us through the math behind it. What happened last week is a real shame for the venture community and only in the next few months we’ll start understanding the real impact of the collapse.
2️⃣ How Carta won their first 100 customers: building empathy and authenticity, solving the cold-start problem, communicating value and price, product-market fit, and more.
“As Carta’s only salesperson, Henry poured his energy into meeting with investors, with a two-birds-with-one-stone mentality. ‘We needed investors and I was busy fundraising myself.’ Some of these investors would ask new founders to try the product.”
3️⃣ Here is a look at the VC industry through the lens of digitalization. Not only theory but also a case study of how Earlybird transitioned from “old-school VC” to “productivity VC”. Examples include Notion templates, robotic process automation, better email tools, and more. Great read!
2 venture announcements that caught our eye:
1️⃣ Passthrough raised $10mm series A. They are building workflow automations for investors, fund managers, and more - “making investing into the private markets a one-click checkout experience”.
2️⃣ Attio raised $23.5mm for their CRM platform development. “There have been a lot of startups that have tried to challenge in the CRM space,” the CEO of Attio says. “However, the fact that even with all of these options so many people are still in ‘DIY mode’ and so unhappy with their CRM means there’s a lot of space for disruption.”
Flowlie news 🎉
We recently launched a user activation tour for investors. We hope this will give current and future investors on a Flowlie a clearer onboarding experience!
