Hi Friends,
This is Mike from Flowlie. This bi-weekly newsletter includes the top articles about VC & PE, ranging from operations, tech, and tax advice to trends, notable guides, and news on recent capital raises.
We hope you enjoy it and find some value! If you do, make sure to share it with a friend.
Today's reads
First up, a great read on building wealth as an angel investor and how (and why) to get started “when you’re broke”. We at Flowlie are all about expanding the market for angel investments, so we ask you to give this 8-min piece a try.
A startup compensation report by Carta. It covers remote hiring trends, headcount growth rates, salary & equity trends, compensation by metro area, and much more. Of course, it comes with beautiful graphs.
News from venture
First, reportedly, Klarna is raising ~$650M on a $6.5B valuation (sounds great until you realize Klarna was valued at $45.6 B in 2021)…
Next up, Jared Kushner’s private equity firm signs its first big private equity deal. The investment is in Mosaic, a “fintech company that provides loans for residential solar installations”.
Finally, BlockFi - a crypto lender that has been struggling in recent months - is reportedly in talks with both FTX and Ledn. In short, a potential FTX deal is likely to be an acquisition with a deep discount (an unconfirmed $25M price compared to BlockFi’s $3B valuation in 2021). Ledn’s potential offer is for a funding round in exchange for a significant portion of the company.
Flowlie feature highlight
Today’s highlight is about FlowLink privacy settings. Startup profiles can now be public, soft-gated, or hard-gated allowing visitors who do not have a Flowlie profile to see the deck and a select group of information. As a startup, you can see all your visitors in the updated Access Manager.
As a visitor, you will receive an email to verify it was you so if your email ever gets misused by the wrong person, we'll let the founder know it wasn't you. Our commitment to making Flowlie a secure and trusted place for everyone is as strong today as it was on day one.
As always, feel free to email us with any questions. We are glad to chat!
Thank you,
Mike from Flowlie
